The camel, as a valuable animal, has adapted well to the climatic conditions of the island over the years. Due to its unique physical and physiological characteristics, the camel has the ability to thrive and adapt to harsh conditions. Unlike other livestock, it does not compete for grazing areas because its diet primarily consists of plants such as tamarisk, Iranian saltwort, camel thorn, green saltwort, salsola, and the leaves of halophyte trees.
Camel herders and caretakers guide the camels toward the shore and sea for their cleanliness. This washing ceremony is known as the “Ashtran Bath” and is performed during the spring and summer seasons, aligning with the camels’ need for bathing and hygiene.
