A “Hoori” is a type of small wooden sailboat. This boat is made using the trunk of a tree and has a flat bottom. Hoori has been used by the indigenous residents of the Persian Gulf coasts for fishing and hunting since ancient times. The capacity of a Hoori ranges from approximately 100 to 400 kilograms, depending on its size.
Even today, Hoori is still used at the dock of Soheili village. Every season, Hoori racing competitions are held in the Harra forest by the village council of Soheili, with valuable prizes awarded. The main goal of organizing this cultural and sports event is to encourage young people to use Hoori, improve their skills, preserve cultural heritage, and increase enthusiasm and vitality in the rural community.
