“Moshta” is a traditional fishing method (shoreline fishing), one of the common traditional fishing methods in Soheili village in Qeshm, where the tide and ebb of the sea help in this type of fishing.
Traditional fishing with “Moshta” in Soheili village in Qeshm is a traditional and local activity carried out by the people of this region. “Moshta” is a type of fishing where fishermen install wooden structures, about three to four meters long, with a square or rectangular net around them, next to the shore. Due to the ebb of the water, the aquatic animals move towards the shore and enter this net. With the tide, the fish cannot return to the sea and get caught in this net. This method, which has been used for years on the shores of Hormozgan, including Soheili village, is an easy way for fishing where fishermen, without venturing into the sea and facing costs and risks, sit next to the shore with their “Moshta” waiting for the fish to be caught in the net.
This activity is recognized as an opportunity to experience the culture and local traditions in the region, and tourists may be interested in it.
