About Oshtoran Bath
The camel, as a valuable animal, has adapted well to the climate conditions of the island over many years. Due to its unique physical and physiological traits, the camel can survive and adapt to harsh conditions. This animal does not compete with other livestock for grazing because its diet consists of plants such as umbrella acacia, Iranian oak, summer reed, mangrove, green magir reed, saltwort, alhagi, shora, chooch, and also mangrove leaves.
Camel herders guide the camels toward the shore and sea for cleaning. This washing ceremony is called the “Camel Bath.” The Camel Bath takes place in spring and summer, depending on the camels’ need for washing and grooming.
