Marine forests or mangroves are one of the strangest natural elements of creation in the world. Trees that live in the intertidal zone and feed on salt water. Even more strange is that from time to time, most of them sink under the salt water of the sea, but they continue to live. The name mangrove is attributed to the type of forest in honor of the Iranian scientist Abu Ali Sina.
The mangrove tree is always lush and beautiful. An interesting feature of the mangrove tree is that the more its branches are cut, the better it grows and the greener it becomes. The mangrove forests of Qeshm are mostly of the Avicennia Marina tree type. In addition to this type, there are four other types of small trees in the region. Basically, the arrangement of these plants is such that there is a beach in front of them and small salt marshes behind them.
Qeshm Island has the most dense and extensive mangrove forests, so much so that UNESCO has called the mangrove forests of Qeshm unique and registered its name in the list of world biosphere reserves.
Qeshm Island, with an area of 1,500 square kilometers, is considered one of the most important tourist areas in the south of the country, among the blue waters of the Persian Gulf in Hormozgan Province.
