“Chi Chaka Hara” Ceremony to Be Held in Soheili Village for the Protection of Mangrove Forests
The traditional environmental ceremony “Chi Chaka Hara” will be held on Thursday, September 4, at 4:30 PM at Soheili Tourism Pier, next to the Geopark building.
This annual event, organized to protect the mangrove forests in Soheili village, includes storytelling in which elders share with children how their grandparents worked hard to safeguard the forests.
On this day, children plant mangrove seeds in recycled pots and take them home to nurture for four months until they grow into seedlings. These seedlings will later be planted in the mangrove forests.
The program is managed by Ms. Soraya Rahimi, with planting training led by Mr. Ebrahim Khangah.
The “Chi Chaka Hara” ceremony is held every year with the support of the Soheili village council, the village municipality, and the Qeshm Free Zone Organization.
